THANKSGIVING AGAIN!

I was reading a comment from the last post and was struck with this thought.

Thanksgiving is an act of humility. As we humble ourselves before the Lord by giving thanks for great and small we keep ourselves in a position to recieve His grace. Which is something I am sure we can all agree that we need an abundance of.

Happiness and blessing in thanksgivng.

THANKSGIVING

2Co 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
(KJV)

I know that if you read this other versions it might say something different but bear with me please.

Notice that the verse says “which” not “who”. This means that what is being spoken of in the verse is thanksgiving unto God, not God. I know there are other scriptures that say that God gives us the victory through Jesus and I am not disputing that, nor is this verse. This scripture is pointing out part of the process of obtaining the victory Jesus has provided for us.

The word “triumph” does not mean to win the victory, but rather to celebrate the victory. We become part of the celebration and the victory becomes ours as we give thanks to God for it. Not only that, but our thanksgiving makes it possible for others to “taste and see” that the Lord is good. Our thanksgiving serves to establish His presence or make His presence known whenever and wherever we give thanks.

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord!

PRAYER POINT ..ER

1Ch 14:8-17 Now when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went out against them. 9 Then the Philistines went and made a raid on the Valley of Rephaim. 10 And David inquired of God, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand." 11 So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, "God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water." Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim. 12 And when they left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire. 13 Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley. 14 Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, "You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. 15 "And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines." 16 So David did as God commanded him, and they drove back the army of the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer. 17 Then the fame of David went out into all lands, and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations. (NKJV)

  • The enemy heard David was anointed King.
  • Jesus has "made us to be kings and priests unto Him", (Rev 1:6 and 5:10) the enemy knows and will come after us as well. Just be aware, not frightened, but aware.
  • David wasn't passive when he heard the enemy was coming, or you might say became aware of what he was doing, no but just as in the case of Goliath he "went to meet the challenge". To often we are to passive in our resistance, almost to the point of no resistance. "Resist the enemy and he will flee". James 4:7
  • Notice that David did not just rashly run forward, rather he "inquired of God". He sought direction before moving. His resistance began with seeking.
  • When the enemy, persistent as he is, came again David once again sought the Lord. He didn't just do what he did before, he sought fresh timely direction. We as human beings will often make a formula so quickly, " Well this is what we did last time, or it worked before it will work again, or this is what brother so and so did and it worked for him". While we can learn from others and from our own experience we still need to "check with headquarters" before moving ahead. One result is, and an important one I might add, that God was able to get the glory for establishing David because of Davids obedience to the Lords direction. Obedience to the Lord is always a win win situation.

Be Blessed in Jesus

CONTENT

Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
(KJV)

content
714. arkew arkeo, ar-keh'-o
Search for 714 in KJV
apparently a primary verb (but probably akin to 142 through the idea of raising a barrier); properly, to ward off, i.e. (by implication) to avail (figuratively, be satisfactory):--be content, be enough, suffice, be sufficient.

Your conversation is your “manner of life”.

So often I think we are focused on what we do not have, because of this outlook we think, and then believe … we can’t do this or that.

We really need to learn to focus on what we DO have. What things have been given to you by the Lord? What has been promised to you in His Word?

Even if you just look at the scripture of the day, we find we have HIM. If we have Him, really what more do we need? Whatever needs to change or happen He will lead us in the RIGHT path, to the RIGHT place, at the RIGHT time so that we come through the valleys into the place He has prepared for us. Phil 1:6 tells us, He has begun a good work in us and will complete it … He will not give up on us so don’t give up on yourself, or the dream He has put in you. He will never leave us, nor forsake us. As one song says, “Jesus and Me are a majority”. Say that a few times today, it feels good and it will do you good.

IMPOSSIBLE YOU SAY!

Lu 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. (KJV)

I would venture to say that when most of you read this verse just now you thought something along the lines of "God can do anything". There are other scriptures that declare that very thing, in fact Mk 9:23 says all things are possible to the one who believes. What an astounding statement, at least for mere humans which of course we are not as new creations in Christ. (see 1Cor.3:3 Amp) Thank God the rules of the Kingdom of God apply to us as believers.

Really this morning I wanted to point out something that this verse in Luke says that we may not always see. Notice "what" shall be impossible. "Nothing" ... shall be impossible or in other words "with God something is going to happen, something will always be going on" . He is life, He is light and He is ever moving forward. Something is going to happen with God, and that something will be good because thats all God does, HE DOESN'T DO EVIL.

Notice also that is says, "with God" nothing is impossible. Just recently I and some precious brothers and sisters had a wonderful morning as we considered that we were with God in our lives and that He is with us and has in fact promised never to leave us or forsake us. (While you have your Amp Bible out look up Heb 13:5) What a postion we find ourselves in with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE AND SOMETHING GOOD IS GOING TO HAPPEN. GLORY TO GOD! PRAISE YOU LORD, YOU ARE SO GOOD!

Whatever you have been thinking was impossible just became possible and if you will believe that it will begin to come to pass this very moment, just ask the Father in Jesus Name. What did Jesus say? "Have faith in God, ..for nothing shall be impossible with God .. and all things are possible to him who believes".

I am SINGING in my chair ... NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE ... NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE ... ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE ... ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE ... GOD IS ON MY SIDE AND I KNOW I'M GONNA WIN ... GOD IS WITH ME AND NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH HIM

FRUITS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Php 1:9-11 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; {judgment: or, sense} 10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; {approve: or, try} {are...: or, differ} 11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. (KJV)

I thought of this prayer when I woke up this morning, specifically the phrase "fruits of righteousness". So all day I've been thinking about what having the righteousness of God in Christ produces in me.

* An unhindered approach to the Lord

* Confidence / boldness / assurance as I do approach the Lord

* Confidence in prayer

* A sense that its OK to be in His presence, like I am wanted there

* A boldness in battle that comes from knowing I am right with God and therefore He is on my side ... I win Praise God!!

Perhaps there are other things you can think of, I guess that's the point of this blog ... to make you think. Bllessings in Jesus.

SUCH AS I HAVE

Last time I made the statement that "we must possess what God has provided", so to follow on.

In Acts chapter 3 we remember the account of Peter and John and the raising up of the lame man. Peter made the statement "such as I have give I thee". I suppose many sermons have been preached on the question of, what did Peter have to give? However the point I want to make is that in order for Peter to give away anything he had to possess that something first.

I am sure there are many things that we could rehearse as benefits provided for us by the Lord. Indeed they are provided but have we possessed them, are they really ours? Rom 5:17 speaks of the opportunity to recieve "abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness". Have you done that, have you specifically, recieved these from the Lord? Recieveing means to "take to oneself, to take unto, to take possession of". We have been provided much, but how much have taken hold of as our own, how much provision have we gathered up? When we go to the throne to "obtain grace to help in a time of need" how much do we get a "handbasket" or a "shopping cart"? Praise God there is an abundance available make sure you get all you need and more to give away.

"Such as I have" What's available? What have we layed hold of?

GO FOR IT

We must possess what God has provided.

  • To possess something requires some kind of action
  • Faith is an action
  • Casting down imaginations is an action
  • Casting your care on the Lord is an action
  • Taking unto you the whole armour of God is an action
  • Praying always with all manner of prayer is an action
  • Meditating on the word of God is an action
  • Recieving the engrafted Word is an action
  • Walking in Love is an action
  • Receiving anything from God is an action
  • Walking in the Spirit, Living in the Spirit is an action

Perhaps we could just say that living life is an action, there is really nothing passive about it if we are going to live life abundantly.

God has provided abundant, everlasting life for us to partake of and live out. It is up to us to LAY HOLD and not let go.

Press for the mark of the prize, the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. It is yours to obtain.

GO FOR IT and BE BLESSED in the NAME OF JESUS
